Inter-American: ADRA aids thousands after recent natural disasters hit

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Guatemala completed a two-week campaign in partnership with Guatevision, a national television station, to collect and distribute more than 86,500 pounds of relief supplies to the thousands of people affected by the recent earthquakes, tropical storms, and prolonged rains. The Central American country experienced overflowing rivers and destroyed bridges and homes resulting from these natural disasters last month.

Scholars at Northern Caribbean University (NCU) explored the various avenues that they can take to finance their education at a Loan Financing Forum held on November 16, 2011. The forum which was held on the university campus was facilitated by the Department of Communication Studies under the theme “Financing Your Tertiary Education”. Representatives from the Department of Scholarships and Student Aid, the Students’ Loan Bureau (SLB) and some of Jamaica’s commercial banks provided financial advice for the scholars.

The NCU contingent failed to concretize their dominance as they went ahead on both occasions yet failed in their bid to take the win and all three points.

The president on the Jamaica Union of Seventh-day Adventists (JAMU) Pastor Everett Brown on Monday November 21, 2011 defended the stewardship of the administrators and board of governors of Northern Caribbean University (NCU) regarding the institution’s values and morals. The president was host of a courtesy call by the student ambassadors of NCU at the JAMU head office in Mandeville. The student ambassadors, Camoy Hibbert and Darren Murphy shared in a heart to heart talk with the chairman of the NCU board of governors, where they posed and responded to questions while having Pastor Brown reflect on the transition from West Indies College to NCU.
