An Urgent Prophetic Calling
My brothers and sisters in Christ, as president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, it gives me great confidence to know that this church is in God’s hands. He is its Founder, Leader, Captain, General, and its true Head.

The Jews of Adventism
Every Sabbath a growing number of Seventh-day Adventist congregations are taking on a distinctive appearance: men wearing skullcaps and prayer shawls, alongside women, recite prayers in the Hebrew language of their forebears. In many places the Torah, a parchment scroll of the first five books of the Bible—authored by Moses—is read from theplatform. A Jewish flavor permeates the proceedings, even the potluck suppers.

Reach the World Next Door
I grew up in a mostly White California town, speaking only English. I never considered learning Spanish to talk with migrant workers. I never visited the Buddhist temple on the edge of town or had even a passing thought that Buddhists were my mission field.

Creation in Focus
There is not a great deal of interest in creation among Adventists,” the Adventist Book Center manager told me. I was stunned. After all, she would know. She sold books to Adventists. She knew what they bought.

My Lungs Expand With His Praise
I bless God every chance I get; my lungs expand with his praise. I live and breathe God; if things aren’t going well, hear this and be happy: Join me in spreading the news; together let’s get the word out” (Ps. 34:1-3, Message).1

Jaime Jorge: Center Stage
Jaime Jorge sat in the restaurant and looked at his friend from across the table. He had an important project he wanted to talk about, and though there was no way to predict the outcome, he knew the next few minutes were crucial. He had prayed about this meeting. In fact, he was sure the Lord had orchestrated it. But now that he was here he wondered how his friend would respond.

No Pointless Praise
In the first four (4) Commandments of the ten (10) listed in Exodus 20 God is quite articulate about His desire for our worship. In fact, He's downright jealous for it (Ex. 20: 5).

Xenophobia and God
Xenophobia is born of the absence of familiarity. It is the determination that whatever is unlike what I know is a basis for discomfort. Whether rationally articulated or otherwise, it is the fear of things or people based on their foreignness.

Make Learning Less of a Chore, says NCU Lecturer
THE beginning of the school year is generally accompanied by feelings of newness and anticipation, similar to the start of a calendar year. We make many new school year resolutions, such as "all A's this year" or "no more time-wasting". But we often fall back into "same old, same old" before too long. We are less than one term into the school year, and I'm sure many people have forgotten those resolutions. So what can we do about this? Perhaps our resolutions fail because we fail to formulate a plan that guarantees success.
