On Tuesday January 31, residents of St. Ann who were recently trained in Supervisory Management at the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) Salem Campus, graduated from the programme to much pomp and pageantry at the Salem Seventh-day Adventist Church. The short courses administered by the NCU Salem campus on Sundays, over an eight week period, saw more than 20 persons participating. At the graduation exercise, members of the class expressed delight in not just completing the courses but now that they have acquired new knowledge, they see themselves as now able to effectively change their environment.

Northern Caribbean University (NCU) on Friday February 3, 2012 hosted the launch of the Revival and Reformation programme of the Inter-American Division at the University’s Mandeville campus amidst much pomp and pageantry. The programme was titled, “That the World May Know – Go One Million.” Revival and Reformation describes a lifestyle of the believers of the Church in the Inter-American Division. Through prayer and study of the word of God, believers experience a daily encounter with the Lord that results in daily renewal. This experience empowers them as disciples of Christ to ‘let the world know.” Believers who experience this renewed lifestyle bring hope to individuals, families, neighbourhoods, and societies, resulting in millions of persons being converted to the truth.

NCU MEC Partners to Train Residents in Central Clarendon

The residents of Canaan Heights in Clarendon recently had much to be happy about. Northern Caribbean University (NCU) through its outreach arm the Morris Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC), [this unit focuses on assisting micro, small, and medium size business to grow] through funding made possible by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF). In this instance JSIF secured the funds from the European Union (EU). Some fifty member of the community of Canaan Heights located one mile from the capital of the parish will be the first set of the Clarendon citizens to enjoy the efforts of NCU's MEC to guide their entrepreneurial aspirations. At the launch of the programme NCU president, Dr. Trevor Gardner encouraged the young entrepreneurs and members of the audience to make the most of the opportunity and for those who will be trained in the programme to give it their best shot. Since this opportunity must prove a life transforming one.

Among the many things that must have taken place in 1874, some fascinating ones occurred in February of that year. On February 21, of that year the Oakland Daily Tribune published its first newspaper. On February 23, Walter Clopton Wingfield patented a game called "sphairistike" which is more commonly called lawn tennis. However, among the gems of that year created on the 4th day of February is a hymn that was written by Frances Ridley Havergal entitled “Take my life and let it be”. This magnificent popular hymn of commitment still moves us to a greater sense of dedication to God. Here are the words:

Prime Minister of Jamaica, The Most Honourable Portia Simpson-Miller received her very own Roku Device, care of Church Pond Ministries, in partnership with the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists on Friday January 19, 2012, during a special courtesy call paid to her at Jamaica House. Director and Host of the Ministry, Pastor John T. Boston II and Founder Urick LaDonis, presented the technological gadget to the Prime Minister for her new year's gift. The Roku is a mobile device that allows you to view different Adventist channels on demand anywhere across the world, once there is internet connectivity available.

NCU Salem Campus Trains St. Ann Residents in Supervisory Management

Northern Caribbean University (NCU) Salem campus in collaboration with the Training and Consultancy Services Unit (TACSU) recently trained and graduated more than 20 residents of the garden parish in its Supervisory Management course. The ceremony, fanfare and pageantry, was held at the Salem Seventh-day Adventist church. President of NCU, Dr. Trevor Gardner, in his maiden voyage to the extension campuses was on hand to share in the evening’s proceedings. In making their presentation to the residents of St. Ann, the NCU Salem campus team worked assiduously in making the short courses more accessible for the residents in order to make them more marketable and productive citizens.
