Jamaica’s National Business Model Competition winner – Herboo Enterprises - has placed 8th, out of a total of 42 teams in the finals of the International Business Model Competition that took place in Salt Lake City, Utah from May 1 - 3. The local team was also awarded the International Business Model Award. They won a total of US$ 6,000.00.

Columbia Union to Establish an Evangelism School

During the Columbia Union Conference’s mid-year meetings held recently, church leaders voted to go forward with proposals for a Columbia Union school of evangelism for young adults based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school will be launched in September 2015 with a goal of 16 students who will study a curriculum focused on homiletics, small group leadership, urban ministry, health ministries, and nonprofit leadership. They also voted a director of the school who is prayerfully considering the call.

With two consecutive years of higher yields, Odean Blake, a 65-year-old yam farmer from Allsides, close to Wait-A-Bit, Trelawny, is happy with his treated bamboo yam sticks. Not only do the treated bamboo yam sticks produce higher yields, they last longer than the traditional common sticks. So satisfied is he with the results that Blake told The Gleaner the new sticks are "the best thing that ever happened to farmers".
