The Community Counselling and Restorative Justice Centre (CCRJC), an outreach arm of Northern Caribbean University (NCU), completed another uplifting Empowering Training Workshop series for parents and youth of the Frankfield community and Winston Jones High School. A closing ceremony was held to culminate the series at the Wesley Frankfield Methodist Church in Frankfield, Manchester on Thursday, June 5 under the theme ‘Uplifted to uplift others’. More than 50 parents and 19 students completed the empowerment programme.

In 2010 it was reported that there was an estimated 650 Jamaican adults and 800 or so children and adolescents without a permanent roof over their heads. Today, statistics reveal that there has been a steady increase in the number of homeless people in Jamaica. Equally worrisome is the fact that majority are males between 18 and 50 years old that mainly populate town centres across the island- of which Spanish Town is a major part.
