Children’s ministries leaders commit to preparing children for heaven
More than 500 children's leaders and teachers attending Inter-America's Children's Ministries Leadership Convention at Camp Kulaqua in High Springs, Florida, took a break from workshops and seminars last Friday night to slip into white robes and golden belts for a special "heaven-like" fellowship dinner and worship program.

President of the North Jamaica Conference Chapter of the Adventist Lay-persons Services and Industries (ASi), Ms. Judy Morgan was elected president of ASi-Jamaica. She succeeds Dr. Marston Thomas who was elected president of ASi Inter-America during the annual convention held in Jamaica in August 2011.

Mexico: Adventist Students to Compete in International Film Festival
In a few days, a team of students from the Adventist-operated Montemorelos University will participate in Guanajuato's 15th International Film Festival (GIFF) competition, in the historic city of Guanajuato, in Mexico. The students came about after by Hellen Hernandez, a third-year communication major in Montemorelos University, submitted a script for the University Rally "short expression" category earlier this year.

I can't recall hearing a clear and forthright explanation as to why motorists are paying double and compounded taxes on fuel specifically levied to fix our horrible roads, yet very few repairs have taken place. Many roads are in a constant state of disrepair and are in need of major resurfacing - from the substrata to the blacktop.

Head of Ellen G. White Research Centre Passes
The membership of the Jamaica Union Conference (JAMU) and its institutions - in particular the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) - mourn the passing of Dr. Basil Reid, who upon his passing, was Director of the Ellen G. White Research Centre at NCU. Dr. Reid, who was 71, died on Friday, July 20, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.

NCU President Urges Police to SMILE
The Jamaica Police Academy (JPA) recently added 177 constables to the contingent of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) when Batch 101 during a passing out parade at the Twickenham Park training depot. President of Northern Caribbean University (NCU) Dr. Trevor Gardner charged the constables to enter the realm of law enforcement with a new vision and will power to provide service above self. The batch which had a cadre of 50 female constables was significant not only for the JCF but also that which helped in signifying the fifth year of Jamaica’s independence.
