It was interesting that as I did some general reading up on Scientology that among the belief system Scientologists have is that we are all born as fundamentally good beings, and we only need, in a pragmatic way, to work towards building greater relationships between ourselves. This is clearly not Scriptural. Yes, that’s how we were made, but all that changed by the time the human species started procreating.

Portraits of God's Love Through His Creation

Perhaps the most well known and used text in the Bible is John 3:16; this portion of scripture emphasises the reason Christ laid down His life on Calvary for the salvation of the human family. John says that reason is love. “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” It is this same John who helps us to understand why God can only act out of love in 1 John 4: 8 where he points out that God is Love. However, we cannot see God directly so He has painted several portraits of Himself: we see that portrait in the life of His son Christ Jesus, and that is why Christ said, when you see me, you see the Father; we see Him in his creation, that is why the Psalmist David says in Psalm 19 that “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament sheweth his handywork;” indeed, human beings have also been tasked with that responsibility – to show forth God’s love. This photographic review gives us a glimpse, a portrait of God’s love.

Communicating the Mission of the gospel, the Associate vice-president of Northern Caribbean University (NCU) Pastor Patrick George Smith, re-coined that to be transformed one must be willing in ‘Sharing the Commission’ this he addressed to the Braeton Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church in St. Catherine during its recent Sabbath service. The commission of every SDA Christian was given in the Bible as they were commanded to ‘go ye therefore into all the world and share the love of Christ to everyone.’ The congregation was ably reminded that in order to communicate the gospel effectively, they must set aside everything that is blocking the view of them from going to heaven.
