The event, which is featured as one of the activities for the university’s Research Week, highlighted some of the research carried out the scientists representing local universities and research entities. Research Week is a calendared event of the University that seeks to showcase the advancement that NCU is making in the areas of research and technology development; it incorporates the involvement of all the colleges and school. The main objective of event was encouraging members of the NCU’s family and the surrounding communities to ‘know their numbers’ and take charge of their health.

Northern Caribbean University (NCU) cricketers have finally found their purple patch, as they easily brushed aside Excelsior Community College (EXED) by four wickets in the Inter-Collegiate T20 competition at the NCU oval on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. The match, reduced to ten overs per team, saw EXED winning the toss and deciding to bat on a relatively slow pitch. The challenge of compiling a defendable score was affected after 3.2 overs when afternoon showers stalled the game for about thirty minutes. Following the rain, the grounds team at NCU on the advice of the umpires effected repairs which allowed the game to continue with the revised overs. NCU struck early as they made inroads in the EXED batting line up by restricting them for a paltry 78 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 10 overs.

The malignant lament ‘We Want Justice’ took on a new face on Wednesday March 13, 2013 when the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Carol Palmer, reminded the audience at the Northern Caribbean University’s (NCU) Crime and Security Management Exposition at the Mandeville campus. The thirty plus year veteran public servant exhorted that justice is everybody’s business. The event, which falls under the auspices of the Criminal Justice Department, hosted exhibitors and presentations from all faucets of society geared at helping to curb the problems symptomatic of the crime and violence scourge within the society. NCU, it was revealed is the first tertiary institution in the English speaking Caribbean to offer the Bachelors’ degree in this specialized area of academia.
