For New York’s Korean Adventists, Concentrated Outreach Works

A single week of outreach meetings – widely advertised, suffused with prayer and presented by a guest speaker imported from Seoul – has marked the NY13 outreach of Korean-American Seventh-day Adventists in the greater New York City area. At least 50 people have signed up for further Bible studies designed to lead to baptism, local Adventist leaders said.

Seventh–day Adventist Christian education was on show on Sunday June 23, 2013 when the Victor Dixon High (VDHS) School graduated the largest graduating cohort in the last ten years, sixty four students, who contrary to the status quo were largely males. The Class of 2013 were motivated by the State Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Honourable Arnaldo Brown, to become change agents throughout their generation. The pomp and pageantry of the graduating class saturated the packed Northern Caribbean University’s Gymnatorium. The graduands were encouraged to study locally but impacting the world which has been transformed into a global village.

More than 2,000 Seventh-day Adventists marched through the streets of Barquisimeto in west central Venezuela earlier this month to speak out against tobacco and drug consumption. Holding banners and signs, young and old promoted a healthier lifestyle as they marched 18 blocks. The march ended at Ayacucho Park Plaza for a special program.
