It was an exhilarating affair as the initial cohort of twenty participants in the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) Five Star Wellness Programme who were recently trained in the newly introduced twelve-week wellness programme, took their final march in a grand graduation ceremony. The individuals who were trained in the five facets of Wellness; Spiritual, Medical, Physical, Nutritional, and Emotional areas took their walk amidst the pomp and pageantry of the Friday morning July 5, event to celebrate in this elegant exit ceremony.

Dressed for the camera in a copper-toned silk-brocade jacket, a calf-length brown skirt, and brown pumps, Dare to Dream Network general manager Yvonne Lewis entered the 3ABN studio and strode over to program guest Blondel E. Senior. After briefly reviewing the schema for her interview with Senior—director of an Adventist-run facility for troubled boys called Advent Home—she moved aside so the stage manager could attach a lapel mike to Senior’s suit coat. Lewis’s mike was fastened next, then she and her guest positioned themselves for conversation in two plush, gray microfiber chairs set on a 12-inch-raised platform.

Cayman Islands: Pathfinder Investiture Service 2013

There was an air of great expectancy and achievement as the pathfinders gathered at the Kings SDA church on Sabbath, July 6, 2013 for their Investiture Service. There were nods of approval and cheers from the large congregation as smartly dressed pathfinders displayed their marching skills to the timely beat of the Gideon drum core. The afternoon’s programme proceeded smoothly as Explorers Keviann Peirre, Shannon Thompson, Abigail Smith, Ranger Janessa Prendergast and Guide Tatiana McCoy executed their duties with precision and ease. Special music provided by Jr Counselor Kasey Reid and the group STRIDE comprising members Jr. Counselors Tevin McLeod, Mickal Greaves, Chevis Gilbert and Voyager Matthew Greaves added a touch of flair to the proceedings. Elder John Wesley, Treasurer for Cayman Islands Conference, officiated in the absence of Youth Director, Pastor Ivor Harry who is currently off island attending a Youth Congress in South Africa. He offered the dedicatory prayer and brought greetings from the Conference administrators.

“A leader must… be able to get people to listen in order to convince them of the need for change.” These were the words of Geraldine Pinnock, Director of the Training and Consultancy Services Unit (TACSU) at Northern Caribbean University (NCU), shared as keynote speaker at a short course graduation ceremony on July 7, 2013. This ceremony was the culmination of a six-week training programme in Supervisory Management, offered by TACSU through the Salem/Runaway Bay Campus and took place at the Port Maria Seventh-day Adventist Church in St. Mary.

Youngsters in the county of Middlesex are receiving training in animation through Governor-General of Jamaica, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen’s ‘I Believe Initiative.’ The programme was launched on Monday, July 15 at the main campus of Northern Caribbean University (NCU). Twenty youngsters will convene at NCU for the training which runs from July 15-19 and will be added to the list of beneficiaries from Surrey. Young people from all three counties will benefit.
