Photographic Highlights of Freshmen Social

Northern Caribbean University (NCU) department of Social Development recently welcomed the members of the Class of 2016 to its first big night of fun with the rest of the NCU family, a grand gathering of students, workers, and community members. Aptly dubbed ‘Freshmen Social’, new students were treated to hour after hour of entertainment, with games and laughter that had an almost full gymnatorium in frenzy. The Freshmen were fully involved and got a live preview of what is to come for the duration of their time at NCU, regarding the social activities while they pursue tertiary education.

James Redwood of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) gets up close to one of the participants at yesterday's second day of a classical workshop at Kingston College...The British-based RPO, which landed in Jamaica on Monday on a seven-day visit, will stage the first of two performances at the Northern Caribbean University in Manchester today.

Calming, soothing, refreshing, melodious... are words that vaguely capture the elegance of the evening of Thursday September 13, 2012 at Northern Caribbean University’s main auditorium. The UK-based, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), on their first tour to the West Indies, delivered masterful performances from composers such as Mozart, Johan Bach, and Massenet. Former Prime Minister, the Honourable P.J. Patterson was a part of the sold out audience and had this to say, “the presentation was, simply put, superb. Performances of this quality are refreshing, marvelous, enlightening, and healthy. It was a tremendous musical display, profiling significant world performers. Young Naomi is a person of great talent and discipline. It was truly a pleasant and marvellous evening.”

On Monday September 17, 2012 during his address Dr. Trevor Gardner charged the NCU family “to accept the heritage” as outlined in Deuteronomy 28 vs. 13: And the LORD shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath; if that you hearken unto the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do them. President’s convocation serves to acquaint students with the University’s Administration, faculty and staff.
