Dissecting David’s Device - Revived by His Word – 1 Samuel 27

Either this represents an abject lack of faith, or it's a brilliant ploy by David to exist below the radar of suspicion of both Saul, king of Israel and Achish, king of the Philistines - even as he accomplishes God's will. Could this open to us the mystery to David's military genius? After all, there is an established correlation between ones natural and honed abilities and what God has been able to accomplish through them. Mind you, having the right attitude has always been important to be used by God.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”( Matthew 25: 40) This text reminds us that our efforts to help others do not go unseen by the Master and are of great importance to Him as all of us are His children. Some of the members of the executive committee of The Turks and Caicos Islands Mission of Seventh-day Adventists visited victims of a devastating fire that occurred on Sunday December 23, 2012 in the Lower Bight Community on the Island of Providenciales. The Mission carried out an assessment of the fire damage, which left desolate the lives of some 25 Haitian families two days before the Christmas holiday.

The Roman Catholic Church, trade unions and small business associations have joined forces in a bid to save Sundays. But Sunday traditions are strong in the European nation, and the change provoked strong resistance from religious and secular groups.

In the Bible the inheritance of the saved is called a country (Heb. 11:14-16). There the great Shepherd leads His flock to fountains of living waters. The tree of life yields its fruit every month, and the leaves of the tree are for the service of the nations. There are ever-flowing streams, clear as crystal, and beside them waving trees cast their shadows upon the paths prepared for the ransomed of the Lord. There the wide-spreading plains swell into hills of beauty, and the mountains of God rear their lofty summits. On those peaceful plains, beside those living streams, God’s people, so long pilgrims and wanderers, shall find a home.

I had not seen her in 289 days. My daughter had spent a year as a student missionary in Lesotho. We had chatted together every day that she had both electricity and an Internet connection at the same time, and occasionally the Internet speed allowed for seeing each other via Skype. We had laughed together, cried together. She had showed off her inventive sweet potato-coconut-fig pie that graced her Thanksgiving table away from home, and I had packed care packages to help send a little of home to her. Somehow, though, I didn’t feel these instances really counted for having seen her.
