Carlton Byrd always felt that he was born to pastor, born to preach, born to be an evangelist. He grew up in the ministry, grew up wanting to be a pastor, and loves to speak. Now he speaks many times a week and sometimes twice a Sabbath. On this particular night he’s in the Bronx, a borough of New York City, preparing to speak for the NY13 kickoff rally at the North Bronx Seventh-day Adventist Church. And he can hardly wait to preach, to fire up the base and get members here excited about the 2013 major city evangelism campaign set to blanket the city that never sleeps.

In his desperation to get Naboth’s vineyard, Ahab offered him something that was even of greater value than the vineyard. Why would anyone surrender something of greater value for a thing of clearly lesser worth? Makes no sense. But amazingly many of us do just that every day we sin.

The children were unable to contain their excitement as the beaming red fire truck entered the site of the Impact West Bay Campaign. Their mission was not to put out a fire nor to perform an emergency rescue, but to assist in filling water into the big blue pool that had been installed at the front of the tent. As the three dedicated pastors entered the miry water, Dr. Smith made his final call and 35 persons committed their lives to the Lord. It was a teary eyed moment as one lady sensing that it was indeed the final appeal from the great man of God, hurried to the water at the last moment even though outwardly unprepared for this life changing event.
