Parents, guardians, friends and well-wishers were delighted to see their children’s performances as they reenacted the struggles and victories of our heroes in their own way. The bravery of Nanny, philosophy of Marcus Garvey, struggle of Paul Bougle, bravery of Sam Sharpe, wisdom of Norman Washington Manley, courage of George William Gordon and the patriotism of Sir Alexander Bustamante were creatively portrayed. Folk songs, Medleys and poems such as ‘Land of My Birth,’ ‘Celebrate Jamaica Island in the Sun,’ ‘Jamaicans are Blessed,’ ‘Help mi big up Jamaica,’ and ‘On a Mission,’ were performed and recited with energetic movements that only the children could demonstrate. With much practice and patience teachers, Nadine Plummer, Coreen Palmer, Kadian Pinnock, Barbara Ramsey and Shauna Brown did a great job in educating the children about Jamaican Heritage.
