Sugar has long been known to cause weight gain if and when consumed in large amounts. But how is this possible? When more sugar than the body needs is taken into the body, the excess is stored as glycogen and fat. Too much fat in the body leads to obesity, which increases the risk of diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, heart disease, infertility and certain types of cancers. It does not matter whether sugar is in the form of sucrose (table sugar - white or brown), honey, high fructose corn syrup or molasses, the end result is the same.

The role of state ambassador is a very distinguished one, and an ambassador must be completely up-to-date on all issues involving his country. Ambassadors represent someone else as purposefully and accurately as possible, as an agent. An ambassador's personal feelings about an issue should never impact the way he/she responds to a situation. In everything they are to speak for the one or ones they represent.

Is the customer still “King”?

Here's the scoop, persons are more likely to talk about a poor customer service encounter than they are to talk about one where the service expected was delivered. It is reasonable then to understand how very easily our customers are likely to have an impression of a generally poor customer service experience. Now while this may often be unfair, in any consumer driven business, perception is a “truth” worth knowing and acting on. Besides, to any degree that our customers may be under-served we must find it unacceptable.

In January 1997 I went to River Plate Adventist University, Argentina, to teach a class for its Doctor of Theology program. From the plane, I saw for the first time the huge delta of the Paraná River, with its many canals and islands, extending itself for about 185 miles (300 kilometers). On Sabbath afternoon the director of the program drove me to the banks of the river. He told me that when a foreign ship has to sail across the delta, a local pilot who knows the delta well needs to guide the ship safely through the specific canal that is deep enough for navigation.

My daughter, Naomi, has been known to misplace things on occasion—her car keys or wallet, for example. In March 2011 she experienced a scary ride down a winding mountain road. On the way down the mountain it was snowing, and her window kept fogging over. Finally she noticed that her daughters’ school pictures were covering the defrost vent. She got out of the car to remove the envelope. Later, when she stopped at a gas station, she noticed that she couldn’t find her wallet. She called us and asked if we had seen it around our house.

The battle between good and evil is for the occupation of the mind. The contrasting actions of Rehoboam and Jeroboam illustrate the orientation of an individual who will provide service either to God or to Satan. The study of the Word of God, coupled with prayer and meditation constitute the erection of defences against the inroad of evil in our lives, and will make for the faithful worship and service of the God of Heaven. Anything else is really making provision for the Devil - as Jeroboam did.
