We are in the beautiful season of Exams and there are many of us who went to all our classes throughout the semester and are entering our final exams with suitable grades, yet we can’t help but feel STRESSED. However there are those who did no work and now have become the missing plague of Egypt to our lecturers; they truly do have a reason to be stressed. Stress is a huge part of the college experience, and it’s something we all have to deal with in life. But this entire hullabaloo can be avoided if you act smartly.

A new batch of students will officially join the Northern Caribbean University (NCU)family for the Spring semester on January 4, 2012, under the theme, ‘NCU Transforms Lives for Service and Prosperity’. Two months ago the School of Religion and Theology (SRT) impressed – for the second time in a row – students, staff, faculty, alumni, and members of the public with a riveting dramatic musical re-enactment of the “Great Disappointment of October 22, 1844”. Now, amidst the numerous calls for the SRT to take “the show on the road” – it has responded with a resounding YES! Its first stop? The North Jamaica Conference Camp Meeting being held this Saturday on December 17 in Moneague, St. Ann at 3 p.m.

Audiences have fallen in love with the cast - who by the way - are all students at Northern Caribbean University, some appreciate it because of its presentation of enlightening historical and biblical truths, and others simply love it for the inspirational musical pieces that pleasantly punctuate the production. Waylon Johnson of the Atlantic Caribbean church region was grand prize winner in today's competition of Inter-America's annual youth Bible Bowl. Johnson had a total score of 165 and becomes the first English-speaking participant to win the competition since the Bible event began eight years ago throughout Inter-America.

The congregants gathered at the Phoenix Park Conference centre in Moneague St. Ann were indeed blessed by performances of the cast comprising Northern Caribbean University (NCU) students.

Dean of the School of Religion and Theology (SRT) at Northern Caribbean University (NCU), Dr. Newton U. Cleghorne, on Saturday December 17 assured the Central Jamaica Conference (CJC) camp meeting at Camp Verley in St. Catherine that beginning August 2012, all graduates of the SRT will be able to speak a second language. Speaking to packed auditorium of church leaders, the former youth ministries director now university administrator, stated that the mandate of spreading the message of salvation necessitates that all pastors should be able to speak and additional language in order to meet the needs of the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists and the world at large.

Indeed, all persons ought to worship Him every day of every year. It is He who is at the centre of our educational system and programmes, which is why our Mission Statement reads in part that we offer here at Northern Caribbean University “quality Christ-centred education, achieved through academic excellence, social interaction, physical and spiritual development and a strong work ethic…”

So often we hear people talking of ‘thinking outside the box’ for it is a fairly popular saying. Believe it or not, people thinking outside the box are not popular at all. We talk so much about some things, but that is all we do, just talk. Look at exercising for instance, so many people talk about the benefits of exercise, yet the only thing being exercised are their lips. Their talk is without action.

Hours after he was declared this year's Inter-America's Bible bowl winner, Waylon Johnson of the Atlantic Caribbean church region, was still in a state of disbelief. The three-foot-tall trophy, the first place medal, the $8,000 dollar scholarship, and the iPad2 he earned in this year's competition reminded him of his journey to get to the finals. That journey, began in 2008, made his last-minute victory all the more shocking.
